By establishing a CLTHE in your institution you will raise the professional standards of your staff. The CLTHE is aimed at higher education providers who are looking to develop a robust and high quality professional development qualification for staff involved in teaching and supporting learning.
This bespoke certificate is aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework – dedicated to supporting the development of staff involved in enhancing the learning experience of students. It will help them to become more effective and reflective professionals and ultimately lead to better learning outcomes for your students.
Typically, we support institutions over a three-year period:
Year 1: following an in-depth assessment of your specific context and requirements, we will design and run the programme for you. We will pilot it with a group of hand-picked participants, deploying ‘train the trainer’ techniques so that you can build internal staff development capacity
Year 2: we will team-teach the programme with the group of staff who participated in year one, supporting them as they deliver the programme to their colleagues
Year 3: We will continue to support your staff, with the expectation that your hand-picked group will be able to run the CLTHE independently to a new group with minimal support from HEA. Based on the progress of this internal group in delivering the programme we can then assist you towards achieving official HEA accreditation of the CLTHE.
Participants who successfully complete the CLTHE at a subscribing institution will be awarded Fellowship of the HEA. This is an internationally recognised badge of professional competency for those who teach and support learning in higher education.
